About De Kabouterhut

If you go for a walk in Middelburg, you should also wander past the Oostkerk. A beautiful domed church from the Golden Age. If the kids are a bit hungry, you can visit the Kabouterhut (Gnome cave) for a delicious pancake.

This pancake restaurant has a certain "grandmothers' charm". A grandmother with a fascination for gnomes, that is. A large fascination, because they take the gnome theme quite seriously...

Inside it feels like time has stood still and that is actually quite "gezellig".

The kids get a paper placemat with a coloring page on the back on and a cup with color pencils. They can also take something from the toy cupboard, where each and every item has a gnome on it.

Of course you walk around the (small) restaurant to spot and count gnomes. They are everywhere.

The pancakes themselves are quite good and the kids get a small present with their pancake.

Unfortunately, the prices are not old-fashioned, but also not expensive compared to other locations.

If you can enjoy the old-skool vibe, this could be a decent place to visit if you are in the area. Friendly staff as well!
