Mariekerke is a typical location that you just have to get to know or that you just happen to cycle past. And that's a pity, because it's a very nice place to go as a family with small children!
Mariekerke is primarily a sheep farm, but there is also a farm shop and a campsite that is mainly visited by families with young children.
You can also come here as a non-guest and we recommend that to families with children up to and including 6 years old. The playground is very suitable for this age group and cuddling with the animals is also great fun for toddlers and preschoolers.
This location is not very big and after 2 to 3 hours you have probably seen most of it. The menu of the terrace is quite basic, mainly some drinks, although we found the coffee / tea "verwennerij" very tasty and fun.
We recommend that you bring some snacks for the kids, grab yourself a cup of coffee or tea in the playground and then have lunch or dinner at another location.
Before you leave, stop by the farm shop to bring some cheese and other stuff and you've already had another morning 😉.
In short: recommended for families with young children, less interesting for older kids, although it is still a great stopover for a bike ride.
